Pours dark brown with a small rim of bubbles. Smells of cherries, plums, whiskey, figs. Taste is same with the addition of some other tarte buttery elements and some mild bitter notes. Not hoppy at all, but very tasty and different.

(Bottled, at the Helsinki Beer Festival 2004, re-rate@Mallaskukko, Turku) Very dark brown, small head. Extremely caramel-malty, port-wineous, sweet and spicy aroma. Oily, very wineous, spicy liqueour flavor. Very full-bodied, oily and slightly alcoholic palate. A very pleasant, enjoyable and full-bodied brew.

Cloudy brown color with red shades, with a thick creamy head. Very nice aroma, malt and caramel, quite mature, a bit woody. Good body strength, round mouthfeel, pleasant sweetness; powerful caramel flavor, with notes of mild chocolate and correct bitterness. More chocolate in the end. The alcohol warmth can be perceived, in the end. It reminds me some good Strong Ale from Belgium more than a Barley Wine from England (more chocolate than sticky malts), I like it mostly for it’s round body and medium sweetness; it’s very well brewed and still excellent.

A dark roast coffee of a beer with licourice notes and a burnt aftertaste. There is also an underlying sweetness. About on par with the ’standard’ House Ale. Happy 1000th!

Bottle - Dec 2002. The Grand Canyon of beers. Lift your skirts and let the breeze tickle your fancy. [4.3]
Bottle @ Spiesy’s place. Alcohol raisin aroma - vintage notes - slightly oxidised. Sweet and yummy. Dark and delicious, though I liked it better when younger. [4.0]

Dark brown or even black, thick light brown head. Malty, roasted, a bit sweet and wineous aroma. Flavor is malty, roasted and a bit sweet. Very full body. Very nice barley wine for cold winter nights.

Pretty impressive stuff. Very roasty malty flavour, with a nice spiciness. Definitely a sipper, alcohol shows a bit, but not very much, slightly bitter finish, very nice.
