Lovely creamy beer that improves dramatically in the mouth a real slow burner that takes just a little time to unleash it’s multitude of flavours. great chocolate, burnt sugars, some toffee lovely its a very good beer that almost joined the 4 and above club but just didn’t quite make it at the end, still I loved it. thewolf (5744), Kolding, Denmark

A small creamy off white head that soon settles as a thin film. Aroma is caramel, raisins, plums, chocolate, and dark sugars. Nice, well-rounded mouthfeel, not too much carbonation. Flavour is sweet, lots of dark chocolate, a clear warming viniousness. Some berries appear as well along with dark toffee and roasted malts. Very nice and well-rounded. TimE (1301), Tokyo, Japan
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 4, 2007 Dark brown color. Smoke, peat, dark chocolate and caramel indicate to me what Scotland really smells like. Rich, syrupy malty mouth. Cherries, caramel, dark chocolate and oranges, plus a lingering whisky and orange-chocolate finish make this an excellent winter warmer. My favorite Traquair. ChristianSA (368), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Bottle. Starts with a whiff of tobacco going into dry roasted malt aromas with hints dark chocolate and fruity esters. Almost like a Belgian trappist. The body is dark mahogany sporting a white head with medium retention. The flavor start with malt sweetness going into a long succulent malt aftertaste with coffee and chocolate coming through. The beer lingers for a while with a combination of hops bitterness and caramel fudge before a warming sensation from the alcohol kicks in. Smooth but unspectacular mouth feel. A well crafted, balanced and tasty ale hiding its 9% ABV very well. However it could be more complex. beeranarchist (185), Aalborg, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Bottle. Dark ruby with a light brown, which disappears rather quickly. Vinous aroma of bread, caramel, chocolate, raisins and wood. Taste is sweet, but well balanced by the body and alcohol. Flavour is a little nutty, lots of liqourice, a hint of hops and raisins. I think it’s a great malty strong ale and it’s underrated. scania (184), Malmö, Sweden
