120th rating of this beer. 33cl bottle via trade with cgarvieuk and bonused by msante79 I believe. Poured into my reidel snifter. Poured into my reidel snifter, pours reddish brown wit a wonderful tan head. Nose is sweet rich and full of caramel and nice malty dark fruits. Taste is sweet bold and it feels a touch oxidized, but that doesn’t ruin the overall super smoothness of this brew. Sweet caramel, and a really nice bubbly mouth feel. This was in the fridge and I wanted a good beer, and hell yeah I opened this, nice to drink it alone, in the company of my girlfriend, our cat sophie and 30 rock.

Bottle from secret santa and what a gem! Nice dark brown pour with a pretty small off white head. Aroma is full of malt and has some boozy notes and raisins as well. Flavor is caramel, malty, honey, and the hops give it a perfectly balanced finish. This is good shit. Thanks santa!!!!

Bought in Biggar earlier last year, I kept this to see in the New Year. Dark & seductive, good thickish whiteish head, nice lace. Malty nose, but a tad lighter than I expected, slight smokiness there too. Good body, a bit sweet & malty, a hint of smoke again, lovely beer, a crackin’ start to 2009, from an almost local brewery. Yum.

330ml bottle, 2007 vintage, picked up at Cornelius in Edinburgh. Nearly black as coal, some russet highlights. Off-white, fading head. Nice lacework on the glass. Black malty aroma with a nice roastiness to it. Bittersweet taste of liquorice and dark malts. Warming alcohol, none distractive to the texture. Very likeable stuff, but maybe slightly one-dimensional [26.10.2008].
