Brewed 2007, best before March 2017! Bottle thanks big time to Andrew who sent this all the way from Edinburgh to Utah! Thanks mate. Pours a ruby color with a small off-white head. An amazing nose; full of rich berries, sweet candies, alcohol, toffee and perhaps some prunes. The taste was awesome; sweet and juicy berries, currants especially. Some chocolates, nutty and sweet malt too. Very interesting, more like a strong old ale than a barley wine though. So many fresh berries, just decadent. Scotland shows her muscle with this one. Awesome. I need more.

Bottle bought @ Cornelius, Edinburgh. Aroma has a lot of malts, dark fruits, hint of peat/smoke and a hint of honey. Quite unusual. Black coloured with a lastig, off-white head. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter has malts, toffee, rasin/dark fruits, some chocolate. Some raters note figs. Very likely that was what I could not determine when drinking. One bottle left so.. Rerate! ;) Enjoyable, special beer.

Bottle at Winking Lizard. Dark cola-brown color with a medium thin ivory white head that dissipates slowly. Latticework lacing on the glass. The aroma has some smoke in the background, punctuated by pitted fruits and chocolate malt. Rich body with flavors of plum, figs, malt and molasses. The finish is sweet and chewy with a caramel malt and raisin aftertaste. Very interesting and enjoyable overall.

Dark brown, small, short-lived beige head. Strong, sugary, malt-heavy nose of prune and alcohol. Flavor is more of the same: sugary malt with fruit and almond. Nice malty barley wine, though I’m not a big fan of the style.

0.33 l bottle, aged one year in a cellar. Dark reddish mahagony color with small head. Sweetish, vinous, toffeish, nutty and tart aroma. Very malty and vinous flavor with toffee, licorice and berries. Soft palate. Excellent rich maltiness with good vinous character.

Bottle, from Cornelius in Edinburgh. Deep warm caramel malt, cinnamon, marzipan, fresh figs, just a little toasted marshmellow, moth balls. Toasty sugar, cocoa nibs, dark rum. A barleywine with element of doppelbock and quad goodness. Yum.
