It’s an amazingly rich beer. You meet the complex flavour, rich taste and a palate growing for a long time afterwards. This beer can last for a long time, enjoying all stages for each sip!

2 years old. Still quite sweet. Interplay of caramel notes, strong dark malt and very delicate "Scottish" smokeness. The aftertaste is so beautifully long and mellow (you naturally feel how the beer is running through your "pipes").

33 cl bottle. This is truly an amazing brew from Traquair. Complex and tasty beer with aroma of vanilla and dried fruits. The flavour is extremely enjoyable with chocolate, toffee, dried fruits, raisins and roasted, malty caramel. Slightly better than their magnificent House Ale.

Update: I’ve had four times or so now. It’s very complex and nice, with lots of vinous notes, mulled wine, raisins, dried fruits and toffee. A bit warming in the finish. I recommend everyone to taste this one if they can get it...

Damm this rocks! Cool black bottle with matching black cap. Give a hit of the dark side! Black with hints of deeps purple with a small head with quickly subsides. This beer has a great balance between butterscotch sweetness and the spicey bitterness, an enduring conflict which just sucks you in. deceptively smooth. brilliiant

Slightly port-like caramel and alchohol aroma. Incredibly subtle yet big. This is full-bodied! Slight coffee, some peat and then caramel and hops sneaking in on the finish.

Bought in Biggar earlier last year, I kept this to see in the New Year. Dark & seductive, good thickish whiteish head, nice lace. Malty nose, but a tad lighter than I expected, slight smokiness there too. Good body, a bit sweet & malty, a hint of smoke again, lovely beer, a crackin’ start to 2009, from an almost local brewery. Yum.

Bottle. Mahogny with tones of ruby red and a medium-sized khaki head. The nose promises all that is good- chocolate, fruit and roasted caramel. Lightly roasted malts, some coffee, but mostly chocolate and vanilla flavours. Rich, smooth and full-bodied. Life is good.

Bottle. A very nice beer. Dark red brown with medium and long lasting pale brown head.Aroma of malts, dried fruits, prunes dates. Nice. Taste very thick moutlfeel. Initially licorice and then prunes, plumes and dates. I think this one comes close to Westvletern 12 and Rochefort 10. If a beer rated 3.77 can be underrated, this one surely is.
