500ml bottle. Reddish brown color. Aged in oak aroma. A 5% Old Ale? Smells like it. Flavor is a light malt. Light bodied. Balanced bitterness. Finished with an aged malt flavor and cedar notes. 13 sept 08

Mid brown pour, decent head and creamy mouthfeel. This was surprisingly enjoyable balance of malty, caramel sweet thick beer with good bitter dry hops and straw. Nice.

Poured dark caramel brown with a thin tan head. Nose is a bit smoky and cardboard. The flavor is more oxidized and just not good. Like burnt cardboard.

Bottle: Deep pinky brown liquid with a creamy off-white head which hangs around for quite a while. The aroma holds something of stale coffee and a slight liquorice root edge along with some dark fruitiness. Deliciously full-bodied with roasty flavours with a sweet beginning turning a little bitter in the finish. Leaves a boozy taste in the mouth. Maybe a little over-fizzy but its borderline. A tasty bitter, a little reminiscent of Traquair’s Laird’s Liquor but less intense.  It has the eucalyptus notes of the LL but is a little lighter overall. A wee bit nutty. With a tongue-tingling finish. A roasty bitter, very pleasant. I could definitely enjoy this for the long haul.

Bottle. It pours a clear, amber body with a small off-white head leaving some lacings. Roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate, a little hops and something reminiscent of oxidation in the aroma. Caramel too. Full-bodied and sweet, with caramel, roasted malt giving some coffee and chocolate, and a hoppy fruityness and bitterness. The finish is much the same, both hops and malts doing their job. Quite a nice one, but doesn’t stand out. (081025)

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium brown body with a bubbly white head. Smell: Malt, nut-covered nose with some light notes of spice and fruit. Taste: Altogether nutty maltiness with a light caramel sweetness. Tiny bit of berry fruitiness. Light hops, spicy and floral, with a small amount of bitterness. Fine dry finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Relatively soft, smooth mouthfeel. Drinkability: Keenly drinkable and refreshing, due in part to it’s low ABV.
