Aug 30, 2008 Bottle. Amber colour with off white head. Aroma malty with some roasted notes, maybe oak. Taste malts, rye and something smoked as well. Nice.

Jul 8, 2008 500ml bottle from Nelson Wines. I agree with Ian, this is more an ESB than an old ale. Mid brown with a peristent small cream-coloured head. Bready malt aroma and a dry, slightly fruity taste. Solid and enjoyable.

Jun 23, 2008 500ml bottle from Utobeer. Malty ESB. Clear deep russet colour with thin beige head. Coffee and dry malt and deep red fruit aroma. Something berry-ish about it, hedgerow/herb. I want to say juniper berries. It has this hardness to it, from what? The water, the pasteurisation/filtration? Lots of dry malt and not a great ESB, but still fine.
