Dec 7, 2007 330 ml bottle. Pours clear nut brown with a low dense beige head. Moderate aroma of sweet malt, raisins and caramel. Malty flavors with notes of ripe dark fruits, toffee/caramel and wood. Light bitterness towards the finish. Good body. Soft and smooth in the mouth. Dry ending. A good one.

Dec 6, 2007 0.33 l bottle. Poured clear dark brown-reddish body with medium fluffy ebony head. Aroma is quite sour, dominated by wine and coffee. Flavor is quite dry, bitterish, with notes of grapes and maybe oak wood. Finish is quite sour and not so long. Really completely different thing of another English Strong Ale I’ve tried, and don’t like this one so much... Also, not really similar to Jacobite Ale.

Dec 1, 2007 330 ml. bottle. Pours a dark brown with a decent head. The aroma is quite fruity, like grapes perhaps. The taste is a rich fruity flavor, some burnt malt, some smoke perhaps, and a little hop finish. A thin to meduim body. A really nice and easygoing drink. No noticeable alcohol.

Nov 24, 2007 Slightly hazy deep brown body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet malt and peat aroma with some light caramel. Sweet caramel body with light peat. Medium body with medium low carbonation. Very smooth.

Nov 23, 2007 Bottle. Poured a deep dark brown color with a light brown half finger of head. Very similar flavor to the Jacobite, but not as good, in my opinion. The flavors are more subdued than the Jacobite, but very similar. Bitter smooth finish, medium body. Average lacing.

Nov 23, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear deep dark brown colour with a good mostly diminishing light brown head. Soft sweet aroma of roasted caramel and malt, dark fruits, some chocolate, bitter hops. and bit of alcohol. Good mouthfeel. The flavour has roasted malt with dark fruits, bit of chocolate, bitter hops and wood. Bitter roasty woody finish.

Nov 18, 2007 This beer quickly opens up with big flavour of chocolate, port, raisins and then dissipates quickly to a creamy chocolate and slight astringency that I attribute to the hops. Cherry and oaky notes develop as the beer warms past cellar temperature. The low levels of carbonation allow this beer to fully open up before being swept away.

Nov 15, 2007 33cl bottle from systembolaget. Clear darker brown with almost no head, but persisting foam lace. Rich malts in aroma: some spicy caramel, dates, dried mango maybe. Flavor is all malts, smooth, sweet, nutty, and woody. Just enough biterness in the finish to keep the malts from being too sweet. Hops arent too present, very bockish in a way. The body is outstanding: thick and full with silky carbonation. The flavor sticks to the back of your tongue just long enough to be a reminder. Very drinkable and tasty.
