Commercial Description:
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The production of Traquair House Ale consists of an infusion mash, after which the wort is drawn off and boiled with the hops. The wort is cooled and pitched with bottom fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

330ml bottle. Mostly black, but with a strong light you’ll get red glints. Sweet sticky and spicey malty aroma - some fruits - banana maybe? Taste is delightful - a very mellow combination of richly roasted malt, though without the bitterness that roasting can impart, and sweet dark fruits. Sweetness and spicines gave me hints of soemthing like cherry coke or dr pepper! All mellowed with a wonderful oaken woodiness. This is a masterpiece.

Garrafa. Coloração avermelhada, com um creme bege denso, mas não tão persistente. Muito bem balanceada. Álcool equilibradíssimo. Refrescante, o que não é comum numa cereveja desse tipo. Excelente retrogosto. Média carbonatação. Cerveja ímpar!

Bottle. Aroma earthy and plum, raisin. Pours a deep cherry brown. Flavor is sweet and fruity and malty just a tinge sour. Palate is relatively watery though the finish is long tailed. Overall not too shabby. Thanks to TBC2 for sending this my way.

Coloração vermelho-escuro, creme bege pouco denso e consistente. Aroma de grelhado. No paladar, uma boa surpresa. Parece uma Stout (café e chocolate), mas é BEM refrescante.

11.2 oz bottle - Pours murky brown with a thin head. The aroma is very sweet caramel malt and is a prelude to the sweet, malt dominated flavor. There’s yeast and some dark fruit notes in there as well. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated, it goes down easy. It’s good but could have been better.

Bottle. Rich deep brown color with quickly fading head. Aroma is somewhat sour - and I can smell hints of alcohol - not exactly what I prefer to smell in beer. Can taste hints of alcohol as well. Somewhat boring on the palate.

Pours a brown color with a medium light brown head. Mild aroma, some malts detected, maybe some molasses. Overall, not much going on. Maybe some sweet dark fruits in there too. The taste is definitely quite malty, with just a touch of some hops in the background. A little bit of sweet cinnamon and spice shows up in the finish. The aftertaste was sweet, dark molasses and a slight bitterness. Decent brew, nothing exciting for me.
