Commercial Description:
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The production of Traquair House Ale consists of an infusion mash, after which the wort is drawn off and boiled with the hops. The wort is cooled and pitched with bottom fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Pours a dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma holds classic British malt notes, with caramel, toffee, and a slight hint of alcohol. Flavor is very nice- wheat, molasses- very roasty and grainy. The finish is very nice, good palate overall. Quite a nice example of the style.

I tried this beer on July 3, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Totonto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark reddish brown with a very thin white head. The aroma was dark malt, toffee and some hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was slkightly sweet, malty, with a nuttiness. Very good beer.

Dark amber with fine tan head. Nose of caramel and toffee. Very vinous hops upon tasting, nice tart caramel quality makes for a new taste, and a pleasant one. Almost winelike in its palate, smooth, and filling. Im a big fan.

0,33 l bottle, bought at Bierei, Vienna.Deep amber colored beer with a nice creamy tan head. Toasty caramel, light roasted and some sweet liqueric malt in the moderated aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, well balanced alcohol, sweet and toasty caramel in the flavor. It has some roasted character too with some fruity character of cherries and plum. Nice and drinkable one what( i cite Gypsy19) i could sip for hours....

Aroma has a unique character. Lacing is beautiful. Flavor is full and complex, malty, toasty, toffee. A little bitterness for balance. A nice one.
