Nov 22, 2006 From a 33 cl. bottle poured dark amber color with smallish head. Carbonation is low. Malt aroma along with smell of fermented dark brown sugar. Very smooth and well balanced. Can smell the alcohol, but no overwhelming alcohol taste. I detect a bit of peat/iodine appropriate for the scots style. Very nice. I’ll have another.

Nov 19, 2006 bottle shared with Crackedkettle at the Cracked Kettle in A’dam: pours a nice dark brown amber color with a smallish head. Aroma is very nice with malty, woody aroma. A beer that would go very well next to the fire. Flavors are much the same as the nose. Very balanced matlyness though that does not go in the direction of being overly sweet. It quite an enjoyable and apporachable beer. Medium heavy palate.

Nov 17, 2006 7.2% ABV 11.2 oz bottle. Brown to copper color with creamy tan head. Rich malty aroma of sweet caramel, molasses, dark fruitiness, faint vanilla and a touch of alcohol. Smooth flavors that meld together. Starts off with semi sweet malts then the sweetness strengthens as with cherry fruitiness and molasses enter the flavor fray. Very nice malty tasting brew.

Nov 16, 2006 well well, looks likr the coca-cola...smells delicous, chocolate and fruit and goodness....thinner than i thought it would be but makes for easy drinking,Some amazing flavours here too, + Very well masked alcohol...a solid delicous beer that is mellow yet full!

Nov 10, 2006 11/10/06: Bottle.
Body is crimson brown and quite tranquil. Aroma is a cross between banana, apple, sugar, Band-Aid and a small hint of sea breeze. Flavors include roasted malt, burnt caramel, fruit (dirty plum) and a touch of barrel. Finish is burnt and long.

Nov 3, 2006 Pours a clear dark red. Smells portish. Mellow maltiness with caramel. A surprisingly big amount of funghyness. Also some alcohol but still well hidden. Kinda bland and too funghy. Not so good IMHO.

Oct 27, 2006 Bottle; Swwet fruit plum aroma and some noticable alcohol. Held to light nice mahagany body with thin dark tan head. Body texture was thin but enough sweet fruit flavor to cover the alcohol presence. Alcohol on the palate. Would like to have this on cask, thinking it would be better than from a bottle.

Oct 23, 2006 Strong Scotch Ale.
Nice ruby colored beer, very clear with decent lacing and some alcoholic legs.
Aroma: Smooth with satisfying caramel, smoky character and some alcohol that blends well when swirled.
Flavor is nice as the caramel, smoke and alcohol all standout. Alcohol is clean and not very phenolic.
Palate is thick and smooth.
All in all a very good beer excellent to style. I enjoyed everything but the price. Maybe needed a little more aging to really blend all the characters together.
