Commercial Description:
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The production of Traquair House Ale consists of an infusion mash, after which the wort is drawn off and boiled with the hops. The wort is cooled and pitched with bottom fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Botlle. Pours dark brown, light hints of ruby, neat fine head. Very good, clean, solid malty, dark caramel, dry timber aroma. You might also notice gentle hints of chocolate vanilla. Flavours are dominated by brown malts, clean medium full body. This recipe is well pre thought. Good master craft. Solid old school.

Very intense - dark maltiness. Good hop balance (take notes, Old Chub). Deep and roasty. Nice stuff. Not something I’d drink everyday though.

<!-- i -->Bought at a wine and beer shop in Rome for 2.5 euro<!-- /i --> - Pours dark amber with a mostly maintained tan head. Aroma of plums, toffee, and cherry. Taste is sweet, fruity, and similar to the aroma. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied with soft carbonation. Heavy, but not overly alcoholic. Not bad, but I didn’t think this was all that impressive.

Black colored, little beige head. Licorice, vinous tones, mild alcohol, sweetness and mild port wine in aroma. Medium to full bodied. Vinous flavor with port wine, sweetness, mild alcohol and licorice. Aftertaste is slightly dry with some oak, brandy and sourness.

While pouring it is a milky brown, with a strange greenish almost iridescent hint only seen while pouring [weird]. Get a strong whiff of nice Scottish malt. medium dark cream colored head that stays very thin but present through the enjoying glass. A strong lace that only appears while tipping the glass. A woody nutty aftertaste that’s very pleasant. Good mouth feel. Nice wee heavy.
