Commercial Description:
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The production of Traquair House Ale consists of an infusion mash, after which the wort is drawn off and boiled with the hops. The wort is cooled and pitched with bottom fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

Bottled:
Aroma is sourly, light smelly with light sweetness and fruitiness. Flavor has notes of cough candy with light to medium sweetness. Light alcohol notes. Dry and bitter finish.

This beer pours a deep red amber with a 1/4 in. tan head. Lots of fruit in the smell. Very roasty malty flavor! Very nice beer. The roasting is not overwelming. This is a very fine beer I will be happy to drink again! Cheers!

Clear dark red with a white head and some lacing. Nice fruit and licorice in the nose. Dried fruit, roast, some smoke, and an earthy bitterness in the flavor. Medium in body with a creamy mouthfeel. Good beer. I like the Jacpbite Ale a little more.

Pours almost opaque with a smallish head that quickly dissipates to a thin bubbly film that lingers around the perimeter of the glass. Nose of malt and subtle dates with very little (none that I was able to detect) hop presence. Strong roasted malt flavor with hints of alcohol. There is a bitterness as well as more dark fruit taste in the finish. A complex brew. Liked it better than the Jacobite Ale.

Pours a fairly dark brown, with a smallish head. Aroma is mostly matl with a hint of sournsee which is not at all present in the flavor. Flavors are of roasted malt. Very little in the way of hop bitterness or flavor. Not at all overly sweet. A very tasty brew that I would have to recommend.

Enjoyed this one with my brother on Christmas Day. A rather sweet brew with toasty notes and a malt crunch in there. Very little hops and this is one of those beers that gets better as it gets a bit warmer. If you see it grab it because it’s a solid beer.
