Commercial Description:
Mainly available filtered in bottles, though part of the production goes unfiltered into cask.
The production of Traquair House Ale consists of an infusion mash, after which the wort is drawn off and boiled with the hops. The wort is cooled and pitched with bottom fermenting yeast under controlled temperature. It is then fermented in oak over a period of seven days. The beer is transferred into cold storage tanks or barrels and matured over a period of weeks. After maturation the beer is filtered prior to packing.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a creamy, off-white head leving quite some lacework. Lovely aroma of sherry and overripe fruit. Quite full-bodied with a very soft and smooth mouthfeel. Very complex flavour pattern with woody, oaky accents and vanilla, caramel, sherry, plenty of fruit and even some vitamin accents. The finish is dry. Very complex and pleasant. Another excellent Traquair brew. 180507

25 cL bottle. Pours black with a huge, dense and light tan head slowly turning into a nice lacework. Malty toffee and light fruity aroma. Flavour is light roasted malt and toffee sweet dark caramel with a light bitterness. Light and smooth malt lingering into the finish. Nice and wellbalanced.

deep cloudy rusty amber, whispy fine head, rich sweet carmel malt aroma with just a touch of floral hops, rich dry malt flavor, underlying bitterness, lasting through the finish, tasty but not worth $7 for 11 oz

big sweet alcoholic aroma with some earthy hops, rich malt flavor, lots of fruity ripe plum character, nice mellow sweetness, slightly thin, a bit oxadized contributing to a light bitter finish, age has helped this beer
