Not unbalanced but too much on the sweet side. Very dark brown color, light brown small head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, licorice, vanilla, lightly roasted, hint of chocolate. Strange moving mouthfeel between thin and full, soft overall. I was expecting much more. Out of balance in the flavor, too much on the sweet spice side. carruthm (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Dark brown with a minimal head a nd little lacing, not surprising with 8% alcohol, though.
Fruity and malty nose with some hint of spice.
Taste is earthy with dark malts and fruit. The corriander is noticeable, but not overpowering.
Smooth mouthfeel with light carbonation. Slight alcohol burn, but is pleasant and balances well with the overall beer. scrizzz (1327), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Spiced aroma reminds me of mulling spices, pinecones and coffee. Very dark clear brown, faint ring of a head in the glass. Delicately complex, lots of dried wood, some orange peel. Low carbonation, smooth elegant mouthfeel, only a hint of the alcohol comes through. daknole (3025), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
