Scotish ales tend to have a slight bitterness under the flavor...but this ale is very unique. Very crisp aroma....sort of a fresh spiciness (slighty floral, or maybe earthy is a better term) with tones of corriander, malt and another spice that is very similar to Grains of Paradise. The flavor is just as complex....a plethora of spices, particularly corriander (of course, since they brew with it!) as well as allspice, maybe a hint of something like Grains of Paradise. Also a nice malty backbone, not too roasted, but not too sweet...it complements the spiciness very well. A very unique beer that is worth at least one try. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA
