| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2007 $4.99 bottle from Tip Top. Best before June 2014. No yeast sediment. No head, but small bubbles climb the sides of the glass and disappear on the surface. Deep dark amber red color, nearly black. Light aroma of some corriander and malt. Maybe the lightest amount of cardboard, but it’s hard to tell. Flavor is kind of light (watery). Alchohol is well hidden (unless you search for it). Leans dry. Maybe the smallest hint of sourness, but basically flavorless. Maybe this bottle is past it’s prime. I wouldn’t doubt it is from 2004, making it 3 yrs old. Not very tasty. tjthresh (1779), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2007 12 ounce bottle from SS summer 2007
Pour dark brown with some ruby highlights. No real head except for a ring around the edges.
The corriander really dominates this beer. I get a smidge of roasted character. But most of the character is herbal citrus. I even get the leaves of cilantro.
It also seems fairly watery. Medium carbonation. Dry finish.
Certainly one of the more interesting beers I’ve ever tried. TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Pours dark brown with a little bit of ruby when held up to the light, but I still can’t see through it by any means. Small, yellowish-white head that fades leaving a nice ring of lace. The aroma is like nothing I have ever smelled. Begins with some dark malts, a little molasses and spices, but quickly moves to something almost salty that makes me think of pizza dough for some strange reason.. As I take the first sip, the saltiness is all gone and the full on malt attack begins. The malts are very nice here--not too sweet and they are balanced very nicely with the coriander and hops. Alcohol is all but hidden in the flavor. This is a very nice, unique, and interesting beer. Glad I finally gave it a try. Thanks for the bringing it up Ryan and Paul! maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA
