Aroma – Huge malt aroma with very little hops. The spice and sweet aroma come through. Appearance – Black in color, thin head and clear.
Flavor – Great dark roasty malt flavor. Very spicy and dried fruit flavor.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – This was a very good traditional dark ale. Very tasty and tons of great malt flavors.
NoiZe (893), Zeist, Netherlands Aug 28, 2008 Black colored brew. Very nice sweet aroma of spices and fruits. Flavor has chocolate malts, spices and some fruits. Good hopbitterness. Overall a good brew. Bullit (524), Zeist, Netherlands Aug 24, 2008 Bottle, thx to NoiZe. Dark colour, small tan head. Aroma has fruits, spices and chocolate malts. Flavour has dark malts and spices. A nice hoppy bitterness to finish it off. Great! bp (282), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 Bottle (best before 2014): pours a dark reddish-brown with a frothy light tan head, aroma of cherry, caramel and malt, (kind of a Belgian beer aroma), taste is malty, chocolate, a bit of the alcohol and spices, leaves a bit of a watery feel in the back of the throat. roder_60 (871), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2008 Pours a beautiful black color with froathy tan head that dissapates over time. Aroma is sweet caramel and dark fruits with some desert spirit alcohol presence. Reminds me of a rum filled chocolate candy in a way. Flavor exceptionally good. Medium mouthfeel, nice dark fruit flavors with mild coriander and spice, mild roasted malts. Can’t tell the 8% at all. One of the truely great beers.
