A_R (270), Georgia, USA Jan 24, 2008 Very dark pour with a small head. Flavor is complex and changing. Spices, fruits, malts, sweets, and earth tones all come forth. Could be a little smoother.
MrChopin (101), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours true brown with a white ring for a head. Scent of chocolate, oranges, and bread. The flavor follows the nose seamlessly with sweet malts, chocolate, bread, subdued citrus and finishes with a little alcohol. The palate really works with the flavors, smooth and delicate (but never watery) for a refreshing touch and balance that reflects the other components. This is a total knockout. weaselkenievil (272), Cheshire, England Jul 6, 2008 Hmm Hmm Hmm. Very impressed, chocolate, orange, liqourice, you could probably pick anything out of here. Well, I could...Bang on that is. 502Flavors (140), Kentucky, USA Jun 25, 2008 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Pours a dark dark brown, almost black, with a creamy and tall beige head that unfortunately fades pretty quick. Aroma of molasses, candy sugar, sweet dark malt, cherries, molasses, honey, and more - subtle aromas keep coming out as it warms. Its flavors are also subtle and just as extensive - cherries, oak, vanilla, sweet malt, ... - really delicious and probably great with age. No signs of any alcohol, which is pretty stunning for the abv. This brew is unbelievably silky soft on the palate (the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was because it could be a bit thicker). Very soft carbonation. Overall: this stuff is tasty and might prove the be great with age. AskForJenny (407), Ontario, New York, USA Jun 20, 2008 0.33l - Pours a dark, cloudy red, fleeting small head, slight licorice on nose, licorice and caramel on palate. OK. Vas19 (192), Maryland, USA Jun 18, 2008 Pours opaque brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is wine and licorice with a bit of plum. Taste adds a malt and caramel component to the fruit flavor of the nose. Licorice is still there as well. Very nice beer.
