Svesse (1709), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 30, 2008 (Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 9 Aug 2008) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dark fruit. Malty taste with dark fruit, nuts, toffee and a decent earthy bitterness in the finish. Good balance. Very nice beer. Mes_and_Sim (4365), Highgate, Greater London, England Nov 25, 2007 A Mes rate: Cask at the White Horse. Ruby amber colour with an oily film. Malty and metallic aroma with some very slight sour fruit. More metallic notes in the flavour. A big let down considering the quality usually associated with this brewery. Given a little while to open up after pouring it gives up some caramel and tobacco and the metallic note has all but gone. So so at best. GarethYoung (1108), Glasgow, Scotland Jul 11, 2007 [Cask from The Guildford Arms] Coppery colour with a moderate, tight head, good clarity, nice condition. Leafy, English hop character, very earthwith some floral nuances, lots of malt, biscuity, caramel. Medium body with a hoppy bite in the finish. Magic_dave6 (3753), London, Greater London, England Jun 16, 2007 Guildford Arms. Aroma is minimal due to sparkler, however toffee and grassy hops, spice later. Taste is a tad watery, toffee, honey spice, bittering hops. A tasty wee ale indeed. DJMonarch (4091), Northwich, Cheshire, England Mar 2, 2006 Cask Stillage at the GBBF, Kensington Olympia 02/08/2001
Mid brown coloured and very bitter on the palate. Malt and hop finish.
