Aug 30, 2008 (Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 9 Aug 2008) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dark fruit. Malty taste with dark fruit, nuts, toffee and a decent earthy bitterness in the finish. Good balance. Very nice beer.

Ruby amber colour with an oily film. Malty and metallic aroma with some very slight sour fruit. More metallic notes in the flavour. A big let down considering the quality usually associated with this brewery. Given a little while to open up after pouring it gives up some caramel and tobacco and the metallic note has all but gone. So so at best.

Jul 11, 2007 [Cask from The Guildford Arms] Coppery colour with a moderate, tight head, good clarity, nice condition. Leafy, English hop character, very earthwith some floral nuances, lots of malt, biscuity, caramel. Medium body with a hoppy bite in the finish.

Jun 16, 2007 Guildford Arms. Aroma is minimal due to sparkler, however toffee and grassy hops, spice later. Taste is a tad watery, toffee, honey spice, bittering hops. A tasty wee ale indeed.
