(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 9 Aug 2008) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dark fruit. Malty taste with dark fruit, nuts, toffee and a decent earthy bitterness in the finish. Good balance. Very nice beer.

A Mes rate: Cask at the White Horse.
Ruby amber colour with an oily film. Malty and metallic aroma with some very slight sour fruit. More metallic notes in the flavour. A big let down considering the quality usually associated with this brewery. Given a little while to open up after pouring it gives up some caramel and tobacco and the metallic note has all but gone. So so at best.

[Cask from The Guildford Arms] Coppery colour with a moderate, tight head, good clarity, nice condition. Leafy, English hop character, very earthwith some floral nuances, lots of malt, biscuity, caramel. Medium body with a hoppy bite in the finish.

Guildford Arms. Aroma is minimal due to sparkler, however toffee and grassy hops, spice later. Taste is a tad watery, toffee, honey spice, bittering hops. A tasty wee ale indeed.
