Mild caramel in flavour. Some sourness in both aroma and finish. Some bitterness in the palate. Aftertaste slightly yeasty.

[Cask conditioned] Nice mild and malty flavour. It seems very Scottish. It has some interesting notes of ketchup as well.

GBBF 2003, tap: Not impressed. The deep amber color is deceptive - this is not as full and rich as expected. Apple-like maltiness. Stale, cardboardy aftertaste. Long lingering bitterness on the tip of the tongue.

Ah, the might Traquair house. Shame this is a let down. Aromas are light grain and some spice. The flavour is the trouble - thin malts, watery with a chalky, not bitter, finish. Give me the House Ale!

GBBF 2003: Hoppy bubble gum like but pleasant nose. Nicer amber, little fast diminishing head - no carbonation. Nice pleasant bitter taste, gives edgeing bitter sidekicks, rolls to the middle to the tongue back down the throat. Stale though.

Dark ale with little head and a lightly hopped aroma and flavour. A very plain ale.
