33 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Reddish-chestnut brown, clear, large light tan head. Aroma: Tight nose, earthy and musty, with molasses/brown sugar behind that; I can coax out much sweeter aromas of treacle and maple syrup, but maybe I’m imagining things...; a little black licorice. Palate: Medium body and very soft carbonation, smooth. Flav.: Lightly funky, musty and earthy; a bit of burnt sugar and unfriendly malts (like altbiers), a bit of green/grassy (I think) hops, nutty; off-dry with a moderately bitter and surprisingly full finish.

Not a style I care for. Well crafted though.

Poured something between a dried-blood red and the deepest of browns (nothing appealing)....medium oatmeal coloured head. Speaking of oatmeal, the nose is full of it - with morning dew and milk chocolate. Curious, a lovely subdued sweetness that hits in the middle of the mouth but hides itself on the lips. Stays with me all the way down - might even be too much, and then vanishes at the end! Mmmm...what a meal! Thick and full of heart. Where did that sweet fun go at the end of the journey though?

The best before date stamp was March 06 but I went ahead anyway. Pours a dark brown with a thin off white head that fades fast. Strong port and dark fruit aroma. Body was quite flat and thin with a dark malt and coffee flavour combined with a very light bitterness. Will have to try and find a bottle that’s not expired sometime.

bottle, thank you pivnizub! Quite dark colour, medium-size head, very pleasant aroma of coffee and chocolate. Full-bodied, flavours of malt, roasted malt, caramel, coffee, bitter chocolate and cocoa powder. Complex and very interesting brew full of lovelly flavours.

330ml brown bottle. Dark reddish brown colour. Holds it’s tan head for only a short while, leaves no lacing. Aroma has a lot of chocolate malt, dark fruit notes. Flavour has some sweetness coming from chocolate and caramel malt, light roasty edges, a bit of medium strength coffee also shows up. Finish is a little chocolatey with light roastiness, dryish with some nutty notes, finishing with some light hop bitterness. The beer has a lighter mouthfeel with fine tight carbonation.

Bottle. A mahogany brown beer with medium white head, that is very long lasting. The aroma is malty with some caramel notes. Taste is malt dominated and sweet mayby some notes of smoke ? A very nice beer, that I could drink a lot of. A good choice for number 200.
