19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 19, 2008 Cloudy rustic copper. Smells delicious, with huge hop aroma. Citrusy and piney. Borderline DIPA instead of imperial amber. wilkie (1087), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 14, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours deep amber, small beige head. Aroma is lots of caramel, alcohol, pine, grapefruit. Flavor is similar, less body than just plain alcohol. It even has a kind of moonshine finish. argo0 (6145), Washington DC, USA Aug 13, 2008 (22oz bottle, thanks wilkie) Hazy copper body topped by small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, pine, alcohol, some caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, alcohol, pine, light alcohol burn. Medium body. kmweaver (1948), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Aug 8, 2008 22oz bottle, courtesy of wilkie. Thanks, Chris! Pours a hazy, golden-amber color; decent light-tan head with patchy lacing. Lots of tea-like malts, dried dark fruits, and caramel in the aroma; some piney hops; light alcohol. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of tea, dried red fruits, and slightly tannic maltiness; a bit rough, and a very basic malt character for the amount of alcohol in here. Lengthy finish: red fruits, tea, and tannins; ends dry and rough. nearbeer (1199), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 30, 2008 650 ml. Hazy, ruby-tinged chestnut with a small spit of a head. Aroma is raisins, oak and light orange liqueur. Initial flavor is vanilla-orange and molasses turning to a nice blend of citrus, resin, whiskey, oak barrel, light toasted nut and cocoa. Long aftertaste of wooden orange. Near-medium body is lightly carbonated, hop tingly and alcohol-warming. Good, but probably better with some aging.
