uhclem (108), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jun 12, 2008 22oz bomber. Batch #53. Looks like a red beer. Beige head and nice lacing. Earthy aroma, along with vanilla and pine. Taste recreates the nose, with a huge explosion of hops. Mouthfeel is smooth albeit a bit thin. Good strong hoppy aftertaste. SDbruboy (1809), San Diego, California, USA May 10, 2008 22 oz bottle, from GABF keg master David, via Dean at SDBrewCo. Pours dark ruddy amber with a large and creamy off-white head. Aroma is interesting, tart fruits, evergreen, dustiness, phenolic hints. Is this one starting to turn a bit? Flavor continues to show the tart fruits, more of the dust and earth along with juniper and pine hints, a bit of lime peel and spice in the finish. Medium body and light carbonation. ratman197 (2174), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 2, 2008 Bomber poured a hazy dark copper with a lasting amber head. Aromas of floral, earthiness, light tangerine, light carmel and a hint of pine. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, tangerine, tropical fruits, some floral notes and carmel with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish. Beaver (460), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 20, 2008 22 oz bottle, batch 41(?), bottled on March 2008. Pours a reddish caramel color. It has almost no head even after a vigorous pour.
The aroma is caramel malts, melony fruits, and some sugary cola and spicy wood.
The flavor is a kind of strange and off for an IPA. It has good bitterness but it tastes like sweet fruity cola and band-aids. The mouthfeel is medium to full with very little carbonation.
Overall, it’s kind of strange for an IPA. I wonder if this batch might have been a bit off.
RSRIZZO (945), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 4, 2008 Aroma is a big fresh hop scent. Color is a bright amber with almost no carbonation and a thin but tight head. Taste is hoppy, peppery and a bit soapy. Starting with a medium body that goes down with a very rich feel. Finish nearly gags you with an overpowering grass taste that then turns peppery with a sour citrus thing in the end. After taste leaves you with a cleanser or soap taste. This may be the worst IPA I have ever had. What the hell is wrong with this brewery every one of there beers I have tried has had no carbonation and odd, sour or just plain off flavors. Ok the Stout wasn’t bad but still no carbonation. Next for me is there Indian Summer Golden Ale I can only hope its not as bad as this one.
