Bottle. Thick gold with a big white head. Smells and tastes of young brett character (rubbery and earthy). Good texture carries the flavors well, which are enjoyable if not as complex as the ingredient list would lead one to believe. Might need time, might just be a bit boring.

Bomber from the brewery. Pours hazy/cloudy yellow, nice sized bubbly head. Nose is intiially bright lemons, just a touch of funkiness and earthy brett. Taste is clean, a little yeasty/bretty funk to start, then the citrus fruits feature. Just lightly tart and sour and a crisp finish that is fairly sweet (partticualrly on the warmer end). Really good effort, though the wild bugs may need some more time. I think true ’sourheads’ might wish for a good bit more on the tartness front. Body was a little watery, but highly drinkable and I polished it off really quickly.

Sampled at FoBAB 09. Murky golden pour. Fruity, citrusy, sour aroma with some funk. Flavor is nice and sour, some wood and wet wool, barnyard. Very nice Sour ale from a brewery from which I’d never had anything before.

Sampled at FoBAB 2009. Pours a nice yellow straw murky pour, a good bright white head that dies to a good film. Aromas are fruity, banana and apple, sour fruits, citrusy, brett, lactic acid, and barnyard hay. Initial is light, fruity, sour, with good brettanomyces. Highly funky, a bit of fruit come in, especially citrus lingers. Very interesting overall and a pretty cool recipe.

GABF 2009. Pours clear light yellow with a small, fizzy white head, mostly diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (cookie, hay, straw), average hop (flowers, grass, herbs), average yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, cheese, earth) with notes of pear, pineapple, and Brettanomyces. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a chalky finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and sourness.

GABF ’09.
Pours a cloudy yellow with an aroma of chapagne cherry cedar. Flavor is watery artificial sweetener, rose, and light cedar. Watery mouthfeel. Would be better with less watery undertones and more upfront sour notes.
