Sampled at the Alexi TN distributor’s tasting; thanks Jim Bird! Above average for a tripel. All the typical flavors and aromas but just a little on the creamy side. Nice.

6 year old 3L bottle sampled at DLD ’09. Chunky orange pour with a thin white head. Sour yeasty aroma with lots of citrus and some caramel. Honey flavor up front with some yeast and tart fruit.

Bottle. Golden coloured pour with a thick white head. Floral, citrus aroma with some malt. A complex tripel that tastes of apple, banana, orange. Quite sweet and lively. A damn fine Belgian beer!

Pours a beautiful golden color with a full thick head. Lively carbonation makes this beer rather "sparkley". Smells of sweet fruits, complex spices, and some hints of yeast. The tastes of sublte yet complex spice is first and foremost followed by a bit of banana and other sweet fruits; somewhat citrusy. A decent ’fresh bread’ flavor comes through as well. The finish is nice and slightly tart. Fantastic!

On tap at Delirium. Poured a gold with a white head. Aroma is fruity with a bit of malt. Flavor is complex dominated by a combination of fruit and spices.

Poured a clear golden color, with some nice active carbonation streaming upwards to a full, creamy white head. The aroma was yeast, malt, light spice and fruit. The flavor was light yeast, banana and malt. Effortless mouthfeel. Well put together, just lacking personality.

This was a very good tripel, but I still feel that Chimay is better. It just didn’t smell or look as good as Chimay White does.
