Jan 17, 2009 Few appear to acknowledge the disparity between contemporary and previous strengths of this beer. Well, I have a bottle of it from some years ago, which is 8.0% and new bottles of 8.4%. I presume I am imagining it to be sweeter than it was (but unlike many I don’t see this as a bad thing...on the contrary....). This is a delicious beer, and I feel I have been harsh on it, but I have to travel a long way to get it now. Why have strong Belgian beers all but disappeared from our supermarkets? A joy to drink, I recommend it. Cheerio!

Jan 15, 2009 Updated: Jan 20, 2009Moderate orange appearance with yellow highlight, semi-transparent, thick white lasting top. Strong smells of yellow pears, white wine and mild spice. Tastes of caramel, pears, toffee, sugar, zesty lasting after taste. lightly carbonated. A memorable tasting. Refreshing on a warm day.

Jan 9, 2009 On Tap at NachtBar. Not a big fan of this style but this stuff was very impressive. It had an awesome glass too! It was a hazy golden yellowish color with a white head that held pretty well. Don’t have many notes on flavor and aroma, but I certainly recommend this brew.

Jan 9, 2009 Updated: Jul 29, 20091/5/09 notes: on tap, Wurstkuche in LA. Pours orange gold with a fluffy head. Aroma of wheat, sugar and candied fruit. Flavor strongly reminiscent of apple cider vinegar. Overall, this was a tasty beer, but I tried it side-by-side with Gouden Carolus Triple, and found the latter more complex and balanced. Great brew nonetheless.
update bottled version 7/28/09: aroma is very yeasty, with balanced sweetness (vanilla, light-colored fruit), some floral fragrance, mixed grain (oats?) and a touch of hops (grassy, herbal primarily). This is just a very well-rounded beer, it gets a bit sweeter towards mid-palate, and that yeast profile is so distinct throughout. Very enjoyable.

Jan 8, 2009 Updated: Sep 17, 2009750 mL. Pours a beautiful cloudy blonde with a two-finger white head that has great retention. Lasts and lasts. Aroma is at first citrus, flowers, floral hops, vanilla and maybe a hint of macro lager graininess. Taste is nicely carbonated and fizzy upfront with nicely balanced flavor of floral hops, coriander, whipped cream, white grapes, and Belgian yeast. Lots of candied fruits. Nice clean and crisp finish. Awesome. Best tripel I have had to date.

Jan 4, 2009 Pour is a clear gold with a big fluffy white head. Lots of carbonation. Nose is fruity yeast, straw, and spices. Flavor is crisp, clean, and very nice. Much like the smell. A quality brew.

Jan 2, 2009 Poured golden with a nice big head. Citrus aroma with some spices. Soem fruitiness, but not too sweet. Smooth and enjoyable.
