Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 20, 2002 A fantastic beer. It has a slight aroma of strawberry. A beutiful golden color. It has a slight acidic and fruity sweet flavor, which gives it a great balance. Definitly one of the best beers I’ve tasted. omhper (10437), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 3, 2002 Golden coloured. Very malty and very complex. Balanced sweetness. Outstanding triple!
Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 5, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Amber-golden, hazy beer with a nice, frothy head. Very soft mouthfeel. Dominated by the malts (this is a 3-grain beer). Some spiciness and citrusy notes with only a faint, late bitterness. Rather complex and indeed very interesting. 250697 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 19, 2001 Golden amber, huge head; incredible nose - very peachy, floral, yeasty w/coriander, pepper, leather, mint, sage - I could sniff at this for hours. Soft palate - sweet malts, flowers (know nothing about botany, so can’t get specific), herbal hops, vinuous alcoholic depth, fresh coriander. Finishes with a gently dryness. By combining the yeast dryness that Westmalle fans love with the floral sweetness that Golden Rose and Zatte fans go for, this seems like the tripel for all people. yespr (6255), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 5, 2007 Finally I got around rating one of my all time favourites. 33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge creamy/crispy slight off-white head. Aroma is orange peel, yeasty and some malt, the combination simply screams out what a true belgian tripel is. Flavour follows the aroma tightly, orange, spice and clear malty flavoured in a mellow malty sweetness. Finish is vaguely bitter but more malty and spiced. Very well balanced and still light. Uncomplicated (but not simple) and wellcrafted balance between the spices, malt and the yeast notes.
