wheresthepath (324), Buckinghamshire, England May 16, 2008 [330ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Reading] ABV seems to vary - have seen it at 8% and 8.1%, but this bottle was 8.4%! Fresh herbal/ floral small with some malt. Very warming in the mouth - the alcohol certainly comes through. Taste is orange and coriander (both the herbal leaves and the spicey seeds come through seeds come through). There’s definitely something sweet and tropical in the background that I couldn’t quite pin down - maybe mango? Some pepper in there too, but the over-riding feeling is freshness, like an easily quaffable golden ale for the summer (a dangerous taste indeed given the strength!). Some slight bitterness in the aftertaste, along with more pepper and an odd syrupy mouthfeel that doesn’t quite work with the rest of the beer. Overall though this is top-notch stuff.
tarheels86 (266), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jan 8, 2009 750 mL. Pours a beautiful cloudy blonde with a two-finger white head that has great retention. Lasts and lasts. Aroma is at first citrus, flowers, floral hops, vanilla and maybe a hint of macro lager graininess. Taste is nicely carbonated and fizzy upfront with nicely balanced flavor of floral hops, coriander, whipped cream, white grapes, and Belgian yeast. Lots of candied fruits. Nice clean and crisp finish. Awesome. Best tripel I have had to date. bellmyer (36), EAST MOLINE, Illinois, USA Jan 4, 2009 Pour is a clear gold with a big fluffy white head. Lots of carbonation. Nose is fruity yeast, straw, and spices. Flavor is crisp, clean, and very nice. Much like the smell. A quality brew. bkurtz (242), Peru Jan 2, 2009 Poured golden with a nice big head. Citrus aroma with some spices. Soem fruitiness, but not too sweet. Smooth and enjoyable. msante79 (382), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Dec 31, 2008 330ml bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with bit white head. Aroma is fruity, citurs, yeast and bread. Flavor is lemon, pears, other citrus and light fruits, yeast, some bread and a little hops. A lot better that what I thought it was going to be as I really do not like this style. Well made brew. Yves (519), Beerse, Belgium Dec 30, 2008 Hazy blond coloured beer with medium white head and only few carbonation. Fresh granny and hoppy aroma. Full palate bit sparkling, little creamy. Finish is bitter and herby. Top beer.
