[Draft @ brewpub] Poured a dark mahogany color with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, anise, roast, and light smoke. Taste of more anise, roasted malts, and chocolate as well.

Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours nearly black with a thin beige head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. Medium-bodied and smooth with flavors of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Touches of hops are present too. The finish is roasty with chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Draught at brewpub. Very dark colour with a medium tan head. Slight aroma of smoke, chocolate and soy sauce? Flavour was pleasant with more chocolate plus coffe and malt.

on tap-pours a brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/licorice/some coffee. Taste is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/licorice/some coffee, some faint hops. Comes across more as an Irish Stout to me. Not my style. Mild/minimum carbonation.

Draft at brewpub on the way up to GABF. Dark Dark pour with decent tan head. Not much aromas, but big roasty burnt malt flavor. Very nice porter.

Half-pint sampler tray. Deep chestnut brown, aromas of chocolate, leather. Palate is full of chocolate and coffee, with a woody finish. Rich flavour, medium mouthfell. A very good porter.

dark with ruby highlights, whispy head, big roasted aroma with hints of chocolate, light body, rich chewey chocolate malt flavor with a roasted malt finish, a nice cross between a porter and a stout

lots of roasted coffee flavor, would make a great coffee stout, but still enough rich chocolate to keep it as a porter too, good creamy body, touch of butterscotch sweetness that comes and goes

Aroma: 8/10; Appearance: 5/10; Flavor: 8/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 17/20
