dark with ruby highlights, whispy head, big roasted aroma with hints of chocolate, light body, rich chewey chocolate malt flavor with a roasted malt finish, a nice cross between a porter and a stout
-------- /> Date: 12/10/2004

lots of roasted coffee flavor, would make a great coffee stout, but still enough rich chocolate to keep it as a porter too, good creamy body, touch of butterscotch sweetness that comes and goes

Draught at the brewpub
Dark brown color. Aroma of roasted malt. Thin mouthfeel, flavor based on roasted malt with some caramel. Too much bitter.

on tap-pours a brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/licorice/some coffee. Taste is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/licorice/some coffee, some faint hops. Comes across more as an Irish Stout to me. Not my style. Mild/minimum carbonation.

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells earthy and sweet. Tastes sweet and watery with a hint of cardboard on the finish.

Sampled draught at Main Street Station, Las Vegas
Black color, tan head, small lacing. Nose of bright chocolate & coffee: mocha. Tastes very strongly of chocolate & crystal malts. Creamy roast finish, no black patent or astringency. Very rich porter.

Nice solid appearance, but musty aroma. Weak, watery chocolate flavor with almost no aftertaste. Just OK.

[Draft @ brewpub] Poured a dark mahogany color with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, anise, roast, and light smoke. Taste of more anise, roasted malts, and chocolate as well.
