MiP (4927), Flensburg, Germany Jan 30, 2008 Cask. Cloudy dark caramel colour. Nice smoky flavour. Also quite sweet. Very good. Thure (132), Aalborg, Denmark Sep 30, 2007 Cask @ "The Whaf", Aalborg. 2nd Cask Festival. Slightly hazy amber colour with white head. Smoky and hints of honey or syrup in the aroma with some maltyness in the back. Full body with lots of mouthfeel - surpriningly not cloring. Smoky flavor with a good malty backbone. Hints of hops and some hughie (2150), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Dec 27, 2006 Hazy gold. Not a pretty beer to look at. A strange aroma of honey, cheese and smoked bacon. Malty taste with medium to strong bitterness and a general background of pork scratchings. I’m unconvinced that this is anything like the beer they drank in 18th century Hampshire, however I enjoyed the eclectic experience. ante (2473), Stockholm (Bromma), Sweden Nov 28, 2006 Bottled. Hazy pale orange with low minimal white head. Smokey aroma of ropes and ham (is this from Bamberg???) with notes of herbs and grassy hops. Yum! Full flavour of smoke, fudge and caramel. Mild but long solid aftertaste of peat, toated malts, grass and straw. A damn good cross of Hampshire and Bamberg. pivnizub (3770), Porúří, Germany Oct 30, 2006 Bottle: Hazy, deep golden coloured, thin but stable foamy layer; sweet-maltynose with a distinctive touch of smoked wood and a tinge of citrus-fruitiness; moderate sweet-bitter flavour; sweet smokey finish with a bigger touch of aromatic bitterness in the aftertaste. Wow, a smoked Ale....Good stuff !
