Commercial Description:
Cask; Occasional.
A powerful, very well balanced stout. Rich roasted malt give a chocolate and coffee flavour, which leads to a dry roasted bitter finish.

Cask conditioned @ South Western Arms, Soton. Ruby. Good fruity nose - raspberries and plum- with roasty liquorice and chocolate. Sweetness of the malt is noticeable first off but fades and is complemented by the fruit flavours and mild roasted finish. Not too full given the strength but I quite liked it like this but wouldnt be able to drink much of it.

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2007. Black beer with disappearing tan head. Intense tarry malt aroma. Dark treacle in mouth. Good choc, some dark fruits. Good intensity of flavours. Roasted malt is very nice. Bit of ginger and a bit of damson I think.

Bright bottled from cask (gravity dispense), White Cliffs Beer Festival, February 2006. An inky dark beer, with a reddish hue when held up to the light. Not much condition but it had been in a bottle for a day or two. Plums and berry fruit, with touches of liquorice and a light sharp bitterness on the finish. Not as full bodied as I expected.

Cask@Lincoln Beer Festival 2006. Pitch black beer with a light vimto like aroma and a sweet and lightly vimto like flavour. Overall a disappointing lightly fruity beer.

Cask, Lincoln Fest 06. Very dark brown with a small head. Aromas are coffee and chocolate with mollasses. Earthy and floral with liquorice. Some pepper. Flavours are viscous, syrupy coffee. Sweet with lots of berries. Fruity , dry and spicy towards the finish. Liquource notes with mouth-numbing alcohol.
