Wonderful, amber with almost egg-shell head, which lasted for a good, long time. Quite catty in the nose, with hints of pine and resin. Citrusy hops taste. Very, very, very bitter and very skewed to the hop side of the equation (as it should be for the style), but medium-to-full bodied palate is also quite pleasing. Very clean finish.

Aug 20, 2009 Cask at real ale festival. Frothy offwhite head. Cloudy yellow amber color. Intense hoppy aroma. Medium to low bitterness. Very easy to drink. Excellent.

Aug 15, 2009 On tap. Clear deep golden with a small, off-white head. Fat and intense peachy hops in the nose. Medium body, lightly sweet caramel and fruit. Rather delicious hopping in the finish with a solid bitterness. 120709

Jul 28, 2009 From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small and dense white head. Aroma is solid hops fruity, distinct malt base note too. Sweet malty and nicely hops fruity in a good balance. Clear alcohol presence based on the full mouthfeel of this beer. Not so present in the flavour, slightly there in the far finish and minor throatburn.

Jun 15, 2009 Cask @ Pizza Port Real Ale Fest 2009. Pours a deep golden orange that was slightly hazed with a fluffy off white head that left nice lacing. Nose was quite fruity with tangerine and grapefruit being dominant, a good amount of sweet malt in there as well. Finishes up with good hop bitterness and sweet caramel malt.

Mar 5, 2009 Listed as IIMAX at the brewpub. Draft. Rich amber beer with a big dark cream colored head. Big ruby grapefruit and sumemr fruit aroma. Grapefruit and tropical fruit flavor with pine and malt backing. Nice bitterness. Medium-plus bodied. Grapefruit lingers with tropical fruit , pine, and some malt. Great flavor.

Feb 18, 2009 IMAXX per the appended beer menu - Apollo hops are featured in this well balanced Imperial IPA. -
On tap at the brewpub. This 9.0% ABV brew pours deep gold to copper with lasting bright white head and moderate lacing. It has a solid aroma of mango, tangelo and apricot with lighter hints of pine and sweet maltiness. For the style it is smooth and very easy drinking, dangerously so! I get thick rich malts mingling well with pine, grassy and grapefruit hop bitterness. The hop level is spot on for the style, i.e. not pushing the envelope in an envelope pushing style. Frikin’ tasty though.

Feb 14, 2009 Took silver at the Bistro’s DIPA fest, although I had it @ the brewery on cask. Really caramel-ey, strong malt flavors. (Something the judges preferred as Gold, Silver and Bronze were all malt flavor heavy). Hop flavor was good and clean and the bitterness was kept in balance. A bit too much alcohol taste, once again, not my vote for best of the DIPA fest, but a good beer.
