Commercial Description:
This special India Pale Ale was first brewed in honor of Princeton University's 250th anniversary and Triumph Brewing Company's first. It's a crisp, hoppy, high gravity ale. The high hopping rate and hefty alcohol content, once used to preserve this ale on the long ocean voyage to India, now provide it with a distinct aroma and robust flavor.

Poured hazy yellow with small white head. Aroma of hops and some citrus. Some hop flavor. Malt started to take over. Not bad but not good.

On draft at Triumph, New Hope. Poured clear copper with a touch of lace. Starts fruity with tons of esters then finishes with a hippy kick. increasingly bitter as I slide back the pints. Nice offering.

(11/10/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Hazy orange-colored with a white head. Aroma of citric hops. Balanced flavor with malty sweetness, a bit bready, and floral hoppy bitterness. Medium-bodied.

Tap at Philly location. Aroma of grassy, perfumy hops, slight sweet malt. Flavor adds citrus to the grass and perfume, including sharply bitter orange seed. A touch astringent, though the sweet malt and some residual sugars cover it up to an extent. At the end of the day though, just an ok IPA for me.

On tap at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Pours a cloudy dirty orange with a thick white head. Aroma of citrus hops, orange peel, and melon. Flavor is not outright hoppy but has a nice hop bite and light fruits. Somewhat bland but good too. Full mouthfeel. This is not great, but it is underrated for sure. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

Kinda weak tasting IPA. The hops are a bit subdued, and overall there is just not alot of flavor. I expected more.

11/15/08 notes: on tap, at Brewery. Appears yellow-orange with heavy lacing but little real head. Aroma is softly floral. Equipped with a light, crisp body, this IPA was far too tame with the hops. There were some, both in the nose and palate, but both seemed to be an afterthought rather than the focus. As a hophead, this strikes me as a rather disturbing IPA offering.

On tap at Triumph’s New Hope,PA brewpub. Very light amber pour under a rocky white head. Aroma of grapefruit and mild pine resin. Brisk citrus, caramel and toffee flavors. Texture is a little thin but the crisp, hoppy finish helps make up for that. A respectable IPA but more of a tiger cub than a tiger.
