Commercial Description:
This special India Pale Ale was first brewed in honor of Princeton University's 250th anniversary and Triumph Brewing Company's first. It's a crisp, hoppy, high gravity ale. The high hopping rate and hefty alcohol content, once used to preserve this ale on the long ocean voyage to India, now provide it with a distinct aroma and robust flavor.

Draft at Philly. Clear orange/ruby with a large head. Very fruity flavor; apricot with some peach. I think it’s the most fruity non-fruit beer I’ve ever had. Moderately sweet and lightly bitter. I’ve got a new-found appreciation for English IPA’s after this.

Draft at brewery in New Hope, PA. Pours a clear orange copper color with a thick beige head. Aroma of faint hops and tea leaves. Taste is tea-ish with hoppy hints and a slight bitter finish. Average at best.

This is pretty much the exact same as every other brewpub IPA. Earwax bitterness and flavor, heavy body. It qualifies as an ipa because it is very bitter not because of a citrus or pine flavor.

Had this on tap at Triumph in Princeton. This was one of two or three beers that were good. The peer pours a clear amber with a good head. The scent was hops and grapefruit. There was a good balance and just enough bitterness. The finish was clean and crisp, but it falls a little short of some of the better IPAs around.

Draft at New Hope. Pours light gold. The hops hit you right away, but leave just as fast. A noticed a cream aftertaste with almost no bitterness. A medium amount of hops coupled with a medium body, I found it much more well rounded than most of the beers I had at Triumph.

Bizarrely not as bitter as some of their other beers. Dark and maltier than expected.

Often on tap in Princeton. One of the weaker Triumph styles, but definitely better than a lot of IPAs you’ll find out there.
