EtownEraser (63), New Jersey, USA Jul 18, 2004 Had the sampler. Third up was this gem. Pristine appearance, with a light brown head sitting on top of a dark brown body. Aroma is roasted coffee with overtones of chocolate malts. A creamy experience on the palate with enjoyable roasted coffee flavor. It is rounded nicely with a helping of hops, but not to overpowering. Can’t wait to have another.
JF_GRIND (1218), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 22, 2008 Grabbed a pint at the Old City Philadelphia location while waiting for the Meatmen’s set at the Khyber. Black body, white one finger head, coffee, chocolate and roasted malts round out this Sweet Stout. Dutch Hercules would approve. abcfan (161), USA Jun 7, 2008 This one was really tasty. Sampled at Princeton location. Pours black with white head. Great coffee and roast aromas. Very smooth on the tongue, but a bit water. Very easy drinking, would try again. lemasney (299), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Mar 30, 2008 Sampler at Princeton. A dark, flat, brown color with a tan thick, great head. A very heavy weight on the tongue, with musky chocolate, coffee, and nut flavors and aroma. Very hoppy. A great stout. hopdog (4647), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 2, 2007 On tap at the Downtown Philly location. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of coffee (originally I was getting lighter coffee but as I drank more and smelled more, the coffee got stronger in the aromas), roast, lactose, and some chocolate. Tastes of coffee, lactose, cream, caramel, roast, and light chocolate. Lacing left on the glass. CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 27, 2007 On tap at the 2007 GABF: Nearly opaque dark mahogany with a small creamy dark tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate with a hint of espresso. Body starts fairly thin with a lightly caramel maltiness and some smooth mild dark chocolate and coffee. Very drinkable but needs more body.
