Triumph German Pilsner

Draft at the brewpub. Pours gold with a white head. Lightly sweet aroma with a touch of noble hops. The flavor brings more hops than the aroma, and has enough malt to remain balanced. Not bad.

GABF 2007. Smells strongly of lemon grass and noble hops, which I associate more with the Czech than the German version of the style (which I like better anyway). Flavor is lightly citric and texture is crisp enough (although not as sharp as the best). Hops in the finish are delayed and become apparent only after a corny sugar right after the swallow (which really detracts). Not bad though.

sample at the Philly location on 1/19/08. my least favorite of the 8 I sampled... not that great.... or maybe it’s me not liking German pilsners all that much. golden in color, slightly hoppy... the finish is disappointing.

Nice balance, and good amount of hops in this brew. Most brew pubs fall short with pilsners, not Triumph....good solid classic - nice dry finish.

The aroma is very little hops-likely noble hops. Tastes like warm bud light, kind of skunky tasting.

On draft at the Newtown Brewfest with the Mad Indian. Pours pale golden with a decent size white head. Aroma of pale malts, citrus, grassy and herbal hops. The flavor is grain, light, well balanced bitterness, with a long dry finish.

Sampled at the Newtown Brewfest 07 with Stegosaurus. These guys are growning on me. Gold pour with hoppy citrus aroma. Mild hoppy tastes that finish bitter but good.

On tap at Triumph New Hope. Pours a translucent golden with an average bubbly/creamy white head. Aroma of noble hops, citrus, floral, cereal grains and pretzels. Flavor of pretzels, grains, noble hops, nice hop bitterness and some grassiness.
