nickd717 (1265), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 13, 2009 Retired? Don’t think so. Had this on tap at GABF 2009. Didn’t really live up to the super-high ratings. Bright golden color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet honey, sweet white wine, and light fruits. Flavor is sweet white wine and mead (well I guess it is partially a mead), pale malt, apple, pear, and booze. Good but a bit boozy for my tastes. Maybe the first release was better. Palate somewhat boozy with medium body and carbonation. Some alcohol warmth. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Jun 21, 2009 This must have come out of retirement because they had it at the NJ Craft Brewers Fest. Great aroma. Wonderful sweet taste. Nice finish. I hope they make more. Cornboy (417), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Dec 29, 2004 Only had a sample of this long forgotten brew, but my notes speak well of it.
Heavy on the abv, but the sweet backbone of this superb brew masks it very well. Unfortunate it was a limited affair, maybe again someday.
Exceptional

Almost like a mead, its a strong ale. Very nice. Nice amber color and sweet. jcalbi (378), New Jersey, USA Apr 21, 2002 Just had a small sample off the handpump. Very sweet aroma with a (and all apologies to Triumph for this reference) Coors Light color. Tasted very much like a Gurtzinwaimer. Interesting. NJBeerman013 (761), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Apr 5, 2002 Very smooth, suprisingly so for such a high alcohol content - 10.5. Gold in color, sweet in flavor. Unbelievable beer. The only lost points would be for aroma. Aroma was a bit lacking should have been a bit fruitier. obxdude10 (1545), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 4, 2002 Bright yellow appearance, of course a honey-type aroma to it, very strong taste, but very good
