Even though this is one of my least favorite styles of beer, i did my best to stay objective. It is a true copper in color with a decent white head. Aromas are of wood, smoke, cardimum; giving the impression of smoked sausage or the like. Upon tasting, I got a huge beef jerkey kind of thing happening. I love slim jims but not usually what I look for in a beer. The finish was really heavy on the smoke and somewhat more on the spice leading me to wish I hadn’t taken so much time with it. Through the crappy weather the 4oz glistens a dark copper with gold highlights. Off white head sticks nicely to the glass/plastic. Aroma is dominated by delicious smokey tones...sausage or related pork product and a little nuttiness making me drool. The smokey malt backbone is not overwhelming, smooth and crisp with a finish of piney hops. Man this rating just made me really hungry.... coldbrewky (736), Saugerties, New York, USA

Even in the windy misty weather and the semi crowd, the pungent nose of hanging spicy meat cut thru it all. Dark brown and frothy. Strong salami infused body is rich and chewy. Finish gets smokier, hops make a sturdy apperance and slowy fade. Nice...I had three. nickd717 (1385), Palo Alto, California, USA

Clear amber color with a nice medium-sized white head and good lacing. Aroma is smoked meat, malt, and wood. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, smoked ham, wood, and mild hop bitterness. Medium-bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. DaSilky1 (2016), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2009 GABF 2009: Clear amber color, thin sheet of suds. THe nose was subtly smokey in a softly meaty way. The flavors were nice and smokey and somewhat sweet. Meaty yet clean with a little lagery yeast notes in the finish. Enjoyable. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Brown-gold color with a nice meaty, woody, smoky aroma that has just enough smoke to make you want to dive in. Flavor has a nice smoky-bready taste with a nice bite. Flavorful and smooth. Exactly what I want in a session Smoked beer. Dickinsonbeer (3497), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 8, 2009 Tap at P-Town. Pours a nice clear bright orangey copper, with a nice lasting fluffy white head. Aroma is nice sharp cold smokey wood with some meatiness and a nice full toasted malt backbone. Due to its clarity and refinement, the smoke comes out real sharp and nice on the flavor- mostly on the camfire and smoked meats, a bit harsh but nice at times- a good sweet malt backbone and a really clean refreshing finish. I think I had this rated as a 2.6 from about 4 years ago, but last night this was so damn solid.
