Commercial Description:
Tröegs Bavarian Lager is an authentic German style lager, brewed with Munich malts, Hallertau Hops and fermented at cool temperatures followed by a full month of aging, or "lagering", to impart a range of complex maltiness and subtle aromas only found in traditional German lagers.

12 oz bottle: Light amber w/ a lasting, but thin off white head. Green apple and buttery diacetyl make for a caramel covered apple aroma. Very little malt sweetness, and diacetyl only gets stronger as it warms. The flavor starts out w/ a sulphury yeast and sweetness up front w/ a bit of bitterness mid palate. Overall well balanced; Some light malt flavor and a bit of green apple in the flavor as well. Higher level of carb., smooth (probably due to diacetyl), and lighter medium body. Most of the flavor comes from it’s flaws! Not a very clean bottle and needs to have more flavor from malt and hops to be a good lager IMHO.

this beer was a decent lager, but pretty non-descript and average in every catagory. But worth a try none the less

Had this just a few weeks after visiting Munich, and they do quite a job on it. Full, sweet, and bready with some bitterness in the back. Excellent.

yummy. not troegs best but still a good beer and an even better full tasting lager. Tried it out of a troegs variety pack.

Brown tan pour with beige head. Spicy malty flavor that I don’t really care for. It’s like they missed on a belgium style and called it a lager. The body is medium with a crisp carbonation finish. Maybe this just isn’t my style.

A golden orange color, starts somewhat sweet and bready, then some hops kick in. Finishes on the sweet side.

Very faint aroma. Golden body, little white head. Flavor is light maltiness and a bit of hop spice, but overall a bit thin.

Poured a copper color with a small off white head that quickly diminished leaving no lacing on the glass. Sweet caramel malt, and dry, straw, toasted aroma. Initial malty sweetness, with a light, lingering, hop bitterness. Rather dry finish.
