Commercial Description:
Dead Reckoning is unfiltered and weighs in at 5.8% abv and 53 IBU’s. It features Pilsner, Caramel, Chocolate and Roasted malts along with Chinook and Vanguard hops. “The outstanding taste and flavor of Dead Reckoning originates in the chocolate and roasted malts,” says John Trogner. “There is a nice hoppiness in the front of the beer, but the rich, smooth mouth feel is what really stands out.”

Brewed in the USA, Pours a very dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, figs, and coffee. Taste of bitter chocolate, with a nice malt finish. This is a very good porter from Troegs..... :) If you get a chance pick this one up.

Very dark brown beer with a creamy tan head. Aroma is very cocoaish. Earthy/herbal roasty backnotes with an intensely ashy, charry roastiness. There is a lot of chalky bitterness as well. Clean yeast and the malts are a bit unidimensional as well. Still its a decent, roasty take on the style. Quite unlike most other porters though... more stout than porter.

12 oz bottle poured into glass; pours out nice dark mahagany, head quickly dissipates. Great hickory flavor along with everything you read in the commercial description. I don’t quite taste the 53 IBU’s but I"m sure the porter contributes to the lack of bitterness. Good beer.

Pours dark brown, nearly black, with a thick ring of tan lace - aroma of roasted malts, espresso, vanilla, a nutty and doughy character - hops are apparent, but don’t overpower the "porter" qualities in the nose - creamy texture, with a medium body - starts with a bit of coffee and a cream sweetness - a bit of bittersweet chocolate through the middle - finishes with an intense roast and bitter coffee, intensified by a moderate hop profile - a very solid porter.

Bottle sample at Ludlow Wines. Poured black color with a medium off-white fizzy head that mostly lasted and had good lacing. Moderate roasted coffee, chocolate and caramel aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Medium bitttersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.

This beer pours black with a tan head. There is noticeable hps in the aroma with some background maltiness. The flavor is coffee-like, malty, well balanced with hops. This is the hoppiest porter I’ve ever had and I like it! The body is medium-heavy with a medium carbonation.

Pours a very dark brown in color, very near black. Frothy mocha head forms and stays around for the duration. Smell is very hoppy with some chocolate underneath. Taste is hop dominated, but the chocolate compliments the flavor well. Full and very creamy on the mouthfeel. An easy drinker and a good beer. Happy to have Troegs available in the area now.
