Commercial Description:
Dead Reckoning is unfiltered and weighs in at 5.8% abv and 53 IBU’s. It features Pilsner, Caramel, Chocolate and Roasted malts along with Chinook and Vanguard hops. “The outstanding taste and flavor of Dead Reckoning originates in the chocolate and roasted malts,” says John Trogner. “There is a nice hoppiness in the front of the beer, but the rich, smooth mouth feel is what really stands out.”

The aroma is like a porter with toasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and very little hops. The appearance is brown with a tan head. The flavor is like the aroma but weak and disappointing. The palate is thin for a porter. The overall quality is not bad but it’s not a great porter at all.

12 oz bottle via Mys Swap 3.0 (thanks alldaydrinker!). Pours deep brown/near black with an average sized tan head. Nose is slightly roasty, coffee, soy. It tastes almost exactly like the aroma with some dark chocolate and some smokiness. The chinook hops are quite evident. Aftertaste is a bit ashy and astringent. Carbonation is moderate, body is medium. Not bad, just a bit rough around the edges.

Awesome porter. Dark brown color with very small amber head and tight lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt. Taste is sharp with some chocolate. There is a metallic taste at the end which deducted from my taste score.

Pours a deep dark brown with red hues. A strong tan head sits on top and leaves beautiful lacing. Smells very smoky, with big molasses, chocolate, coffee, and hoppy notes. The taste is is full and creamy. Loads of bittersweet, roasty, coffee, cocoa, nutty, smoky and sweet notes abound with a long, grainy, bitter, dry finish. Much better than last years bottled version, in my opinion.

12 oz. bottle via trade with Linus_Stick - Pours a hazy brown color with a 1/2 finger thick light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is a dusty caramel malt. Flavor is a toasted caramel malt and light chocolate. Light to medium body. A decent Porter. Thanks Alan.

Dark brown with a frothy tan head that lingers. Wow, big spruce sap cannabis bud hop aroma reminds me of the Hop Back. Rich, hearty mouthfeel with good roasted malt nutty flavors. Has a subtle spruce hop taste to finish. Enjoyed this one. 10127

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with some reddsh brown highlights when held against a light. Moderate, sudsy tan head that disappeared by mid-glass and left considerable sticky lace. Light aroma of roasted malt and not much else. The flavor starts out with lightly roasted malt and finishes with some assertive hops. Ok I suppose, but not something I’d go back to.

Pours a very cloudy dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, a little coffee, and nuts. Taste is sweet chocolate and toffee/caramel. Definately one of my favorite porters.
