A little less hop usage would really make the malt and body shine through for me. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA

The aroma has a lot of citric and herbal hop character along with burnt toast, bakers chocolate, pipe tobacco yeast esters. The taste is indeed a hoppy porter with lots of citrus notes balanced by a lovely chocolate and smoky malt layer. Hint of coffee and spice upon the finish. The mouth feel is sprite and refreshing with a chalky finish. This is far better that the Scratch 2 I just had, vibrant and enjoyable. danhitch (17), USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2007 This was a somewhat unusual porter. Poured dark but translucent. Taste was of toffee, chocolate, and a slight dried dark fruit flavor as well. It was kind of like this beer was somewhere between a porter and a brown ale. Overall, not bad at all. luv2brew (179), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 24, 2007 Pours black with with an off white head. The hops in this one comes out of the gate, somewhat unusual for a porter. Its not too bitter because the beer isn’t too sweet. The description says chinook hops and it is no question on theis one. This is an awesome beer. It’s what I expect from Troegs though. It has a chocolate earthy taste on the front end with a coffe like burnt character on the back end. Good drink. bigrond (1046), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of sweet dark caramel and lightly roasted malts. Starts with a nice light sweetness and a touch of sticky caramel malt along with good roasty bittering notes and a hint of dark chocolate toward the bittersweet finish.
