Pours black with with an off white head. The hops in this one comes out of the gate, somewhat unusual for a porter. Its not too bitter because the beer isn’t too sweet. The description says chinook hops and it is no question on theis one. This is an awesome beer. It’s what I expect from Troegs though. It has a chocolate earthy taste on the front end with a coffe like burnt character on the back end. Good drink.

I thought this was a very good porter. Troegs has impressed me with all their beers. And this was a welcome addition.

Bottle sampled on 9/18/07: Pours a nearly opaque dark mahogany with a wispy-lacing froth of dark tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and lightly roasted malts. Starts with a nice light sweetness and a touch of sticky caramel malt along with good roasty bittering notes and a hint of dark chocolate toward the bittersweet finish.

This brown pour with a mocha head smells earthy, hoppy and of chocolate. Nice hop flavor with the smooth, dry roasted malt finish.

Bottle. Pours a medium/light brown with a thin tan head. The color seems too light to be a porter. The aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, with a hint of hops. The flavor is really good. Nice roastiness, chocolate, citrusy hops, with a good finish. It does not look like a porter, does not taste like a porter, but is a tasty brew regardless.

12 oz bottle pours a dark mahogany body with a respectable tan head that leaves sticky lacing. Aroma is hoppy citrus and milk chocolate. Orange and pink grapefruit notes dominate. Medium body with a zesty carbonation. Hops dominate the taste as well. Orange and grapefruit hop bitterness meld quite well with a chocolate malt backbone. Very little roastiness. Very tasty brew but I question its legitimacy as a porter.

Pours a very dark brown with a nice foamy tan head that leaves a light lacing. The sediment is visable being suspended in the beer. The aroma is not too strong with hops and malts and a hint of chocolate. The flavors come out in the taste. There is a mild hop bite initially with a smokey taste. Later you get the chocolate and coffee taste with a slightly bitter finish with the flavor lasting long on the tongue. Very good!!

12 oz. bottle from Dorwort. Aroma had some sweet and roasted expresso notes. Brown murky muddy body with beige head and good amount of lacing. At first the roasted coffee and thin body texture was like man this is watered down. Body texture thiked as beer warmed and middle to finish a sweet fruit hop presence was there and I was totaly confused because i thought it was more like a pale ale but what do I know it was good.
