Commercial Description:
Dead Reckoning is unfiltered and weighs in at 5.8% abv and 53 IBU’s. It features Pilsner, Caramel, Chocolate and Roasted malts along with Chinook and Vanguard hops. “The outstanding taste and flavor of Dead Reckoning originates in the chocolate and roasted malts,” says John Trogner. “There is a nice hoppiness in the front of the beer, but the rich, smooth mouth feel is what really stands out.”

Surprisingly hoppy for a porter, a light mouth feel, with a smooth finish. The color is light for a porter, and in some respects this resembles more of a heavy brown ale. Either way another great beer from a great brewery, worth checking out.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with beige head. The aroma is citrus and pine hops at first, along with a few sweeter chocolate notes. The flavor is sharp piney hops, then some dark caramel notes. A few nutty tones come through, then a hint of coffee. Hoppy finish, ashy, fruity, and roasty aftertaste. Not bad.

Bottle: Emerged with a ruddy, rust-tinged muddy brown, like a river bottom, with a thin but very gluey head of tan. The aroma is pure milk chocolate. This drinks with an interesting sting, sharp and crisp, but with a big, rich undertow of chocolate and maybe just a tingle of coffee. A great American intrepretation of the style, light and easy to drink, but full of nice flavor. Excellent. (#3166, 10/31/2007)

Dark brown pour with just a tinge of red in it. Amber head and good lacing. Coffe and caramel flavoring in there...just a little sour. Nice.

Poured a deep brown color with a small beige head. The aroma is roasty but light. Some caramel and chocolate. Hint of hops at the end. The flavor starts with some milk chocolate then a touch of coffee. Roasty bitter finish that drys out. Light bodied.
