Commercial Description:
Dead Reckoning is unfiltered and weighs in at 5.8% abv and 53 IBU’s. It features Pilsner, Caramel, Chocolate and Roasted malts along with Chinook and Vanguard hops. “The outstanding taste and flavor of Dead Reckoning originates in the chocolate and roasted malts,” says John Trogner. “There is a nice hoppiness in the front of the beer, but the rich, smooth mouth feel is what really stands out.”

Pours a very hazy chocolate brown with a thin tan had. Aroma is alcohol/bourbon and caramel/brown sugar. Flavor is a bit bitter at first, with notes of very very bitter chocolate and coffee with undertones of nut. Body is light but with high carbonation.

Bottle. Thanks to Daknole for this one. Pours a very deep brown black color, not much light getting through this one. Flavor is roasted malt, dark roasted coffee, dark bitter chocolate, and chocolate malt. Nice hop presence at the end helps dry it out. Very smooth on the palate, mildly carbonated. Nice body for a porter. Easy sipping, well done.

Bottle from trade with adamharbaugh. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Nose is roast, chocolate, chocolate malt, and some hops. Flavor is lots of roast, dark chocolate, and distinct hop character with some toasted nuttiness. Medium bodied and enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with slight ruby highlights and a one inch, creamy, tan head. Light spruce notes, coffee, toffee, and a hint of chocolate in the nose. The palate is similar with chocolate, roasted malt, earth, spruce, caramel, and a bit of grain husk. Slight dry character. Medium-low carbonation with a rich, thick mouthfeel. Lingering bitter and dry finish. An interesting take on a porter and a very good brew!

Pours a dark brown alomst black color with limited head and some white specks fue to unfiltering. Hops and malt in the aroma with some hop bite at first taste. Malt follows with some chocolate notes. Good porter in my book.

Bottle courtesy of yobdoog. Pours a generally clear dark brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is floral and hoppy with notes of caramel, nuts, chocolate, floral hops. Flavor has more floral hops, caramel, honey, some light chocolate notes. Generally light to medium body with a malty finish. A little thin for a porter.

This is a very nice porter. Very easy to drink, got a nice hoppy bite up front, and finishes with a clean crisp bitter bite. Chocolate/roasted at the end, but pretty hoppy. Smooth body, welll rounded and just plain nice.
