They have developed a large beer selection. The Porter poured a deep black with light tan head and much lacing. The porter truly stands out . The roasted malts and chocolate flavors are agressive. This is beer tasting gem. The rich bitter flavors of the hops and well balancd alcohol take this porter to top of my best in class.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2009 bottle thanks to TreborWhip!, pours black with a medium tan head. Some roasted malt and chocolate, but what dominates the nose is a nice, fresh, in your face hop aroma.......really nice. Smooth nutty malt with notes of chocolate and roasty smoked coffee beans. But the shining star is the hops. Mildly piney, almost floral in being delicate but pronounced enough to give a bite. The mouth is creamy to all hell, leaving a rich tan mustache with each sip. This stuff is nice, almost a style in itself. Drinkability through the roof. puzzl (2621), New York, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Bottled. Lactic, toasty, bitter aroma, squash and granite. The flavor is burly and quite bitter, metallic, lacking the subtle malt nuances of a good, low grav porter. A long, chocolatey finish is the highlight of this brew. chriso (4796), London, Greater London, England

Good condition. Appealing mixed hop and roast malt aroma. Burnt malt joined by dark chocolate on the palate. Tart hops return on the finish. The hop presence is greater than the norm for a porter but the elements combine very well. Excellent stuff.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake. Very dark brown pour with a thick off-white head. Surprisingly upfront citrus hop aroma (not too overpowering just surprising that it is what is first detected). As this sits for a minute or two some dark chocolate and coffee roasted malt is detected. Rich roasted dark chocolate flavor with a clean hop finish. This is a very good porter. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Poured out of the bottle into the glass is a dark muddy brown with a slightly reddish hue. The head that appears is pretty nice actually. The whole beer looks like a root beer float. Frothy tan head, that dissipates slowly into a creamy mess on top of the liquid. Aroma has heavily roasted malts for sure. some soft subtle sweetness from the caramel. And noticeable alcohol. Palate is full, rich and roasted. Love the flavour of this beer. Big and robust and super filling. jeff789 (399), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2009 Cask... Black/Deep ruby with a tan head and leaves amazing lacing... Medium bodied, very creamy on the beer engine... aroma is dominated by roasted malts with notes of citrusy hops... Flavor follows suit with the roastiness being more subtle and the hoppiness shining through... Not quite as hoppy as some of the other new age hoppy porters, but very good... | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 17, 2009 A really nice effort from Troegs makes me rethink my usual avoidance of porters. Here we have a fairly complex offering that manages to stay inside the style where so many seem to go over (or under) the top. A nice bitter coffee bite mellowed with light chocolate and balanced with hops. Not thin, appetizing head, lacing. Good stuff. rdelljh (122), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2009 There is definetly hops upfront, but the richness and smooth mouth feel balances it out. Appearance is an opaque dark brown.
