| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 11, 2009 12oz bottle brought back with me from my trip to Philly. Pours a very deep brown, almost black body with a finger-width, creamy, brownish tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of lacing. Aroma is fairly hoppy with a distinct crystal maltiness. An even caramel and chocolate malt as well as a lightly acidic roast. The hops are slightly herbal with a minty lemon. The flavor starts with a very light sweetness before some piney hops come in. Almost instantaneously, the crystal, caramel, and chocolate malts come in along with lots of roasts. An underlying citrus, hoppy bitterness guides this into the finish where it ends with plenty of roasts, a chocolate-crystal-caramel malty mixture, and a moderate bitterness. The hops and roasts grow slightly into the aftertaste with a bit of a minty fruitiness that lasts for a long duration. Dry after a thinner body up front, but it grows towards the finish. Overall, a hoppy porter. Citrusy hops, sweeter malts, and plenty of roasts balance the big flavor nicely. The body is a bit thin, but this is quite tasty. fata2683 (931), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2009 bottle thanks to TreborWhip!, pours black with a medium tan head. Some roasted malt and chocolate, but what dominates the nose is a nice, fresh, in your face hop aroma.......really nice. Smooth nutty malt with notes of chocolate and roasty smoked coffee beans. But the shining star is the hops. Mildly piney, almost floral in being delicate but pronounced enough to give a bite. The mouth is creamy to all hell, leaving a rich tan mustache with each sip. This stuff is nice, almost a style in itself. Drinkability through the roof. puzzl (2650), New York, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2009 Bottled. Lactic, toasty, bitter aroma, squash and granite. The flavor is burly and quite bitter, metallic, lacking the subtle malt nuances of a good, low grav porter. A long, chocolatey finish is the highlight of this brew. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England

Good condition. Appealing mixed hop and roast malt aroma. Burnt malt joined by dark chocolate on the palate. Tart hops return on the finish. The hop presence is greater than the norm for a porter but the elements combine very well. Excellent stuff.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 24, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake. Very dark brown pour with a thick off-white head. Surprisingly upfront citrus hop aroma (not too overpowering just surprising that it is what is first detected). As this sits for a minute or two some dark chocolate and coffee roasted malt is detected. Rich roasted dark chocolate flavor with a clean hop finish. This is a very good porter.
