Feb 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow-gold, thin white head. The aroma is quite yeasty, some lemon, and coriander notes. The flavor is mellow yeastiness with a few citrus notes. There are hints of coriander, white jpepper, sourdough. Very light tartness in finish makes it quite refreshing. Fair.

Feb 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours hazy gold with medium sized head. Bright apricot and wheat nose. Palate is clean with a slightly chalky finish. Flavors is mild clove, nutmeg, herbs, wheat, and pale malt. Finish is slightly spicy. Prominent wheat flavor throughout; as Garret says, “it is what it is, a wheat beer.” Too one-sided for me, but still a novel offering.

Feb 12, 2009 (On tap) Very impressive for a hefeweizen coming out of an American brewery. This is exactly what I’d expect from the style...fruity, not too heavy, kinda complex, not too sour. I really liked it, and am quite impressed.

Feb 10, 2009 Didn’t really see much to rave about in this one. Not really a typical wheat beer, has a lot in common with a pilsner or similar lager. Cloudy yellow color with a white head. Sweet aroma with some wheat and some light fruits. Light-bodied with pale malts and not much of your typical phenolic taste that we all love (mmm...phenols). A little yeast. Reasonable but not up to Troegs’ usual standard.

Feb 2, 2009 (bottle - 12 oz) Cloudy yellow with a puffy white head. Aroma is spicy with some wheat, banana, and clove. Flavor is a nice hefeweizen taste at the beginning with a good flavor of bananas, wheat, and cloves. Some light spice. The middle is grainy with some yeast and spice and it finishes slightly bitter and dry. Flavor doesn’t last as long as I thought it would, but still good.

Jan 29, 2009 (11/16/08) Bottle at friends’ house in Philadelphia (Thanks David T). Cloudy yellow with a white head. Sweet aroma of banana and wheat. Sweetish flavor with some wheat, fruity esters, spicy hints and some unpleasant bitterness. Light-bodied. Smells like a good Hefeweizen, tastes like a mediocre Wheat Ale.

Jan 24, 2009 Smells of toasty wheat malts, wonderful banana scent with hints of spices. Taste is very nice hefe banana-like flavor. A little watery, but overall a very tasty hefe.
